Integrated Architecture Held Past Its Phase
Integrated systems are optimized for performance during the early phase, when the components are still being tuned to deliver a working product. Modular systems are optimized for efficiency during the sustaining phase, when the priority shifts from making it work to making it cheap to maintain and evolve.
Trying to force a new, agile business model into an integrated, interdependent architecture destroys both. The extra from parts that still have to move together is domain coupling.
