Sync tax
Complexity has a price companies rarely calculate on a balance sheet. The Sync Tax is that price. Companies pay it when they maintain an interdependent product architecture while trying to scale. As the product grows, every new feature or modification results in higher coordination friction: code, data, and human alignment beyond meetings.
Think of it as extra effort on the real work. A feature that should stay in one part of the product still has to touch others, and that extra is the setup the team has to work inside. The extra cost the report prints is domain coupling plus coordination. Coordination is estimated from pull request timing, review rounds, and spread across repositories and authors.
